After a year of living with Mom and Dad in a cramped bedroom, we finally bought a house! Our search was long, with a few trials and errors along the way, but after all the ups and downs we found the house for us. Although the house we purchased is not quite our dream home, it fufills our dream of being homeowners and provides us with the opportunity to make it what we want. By opportunity, I mean, we have a little work to do on the house before we get to move-in.
The previous owner left the house stinky, filthy, and full of stuff. The neighbors told us that the owner thought it would be nice to leave all his furniture, dishes, old clothing, and half-used soap in the soap dishes for the new owner, her really did. Our first project was to clear out the clutter. We tried to give away as much as we could, and we took the rest of the stuff to the D.I.

Our second project was to clean the house, a pretty daunting task, considering the walls were covered in smoke residue, collecting layer by layer over the past thirty years. Luckily, we had a lot of help from family members. We spent an entire day scrubbing walls, plastering holes and even doing a little demolition work. We tore down the half-wall dividing the dining room and living room, and we pulled out the dated tile in the living room. Craig and his dad spent an entire day tediously scraping tile and glue from the ceiling. Craig's mom wins the award for wearing holes through at least three rags, and an honorable mention for transforming a filthy, stinky closet into a clean, fresh closet.
Now that the house is cleaned out, we are starting to paint. We primed almost all the surfaces last Saturday, thanks to the help of our family members. We had a good time, maybe too much fun, I think Craig's sister Larissa and her daughter Savannah both left with painted belly buttons.
Just Primer!! We haven't even painted yet, and it already looks a lot better.
